Summer is here, and so are all the outdoor activities! When the sun comes, lemonade usually follows, so wow your loved ones while supporting their gut health with this powerful lemonade (or shall we say lemonAIDE). When incorporating Manuka honey, you allow for a delicious and sweet beverage that supports a healthy gut, unlike refined sugars that destroy the gut. Here's what you'll need:
1. Manuka Honey (any MGO works, the higher the more potent as an antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory)
2. A couple of lemons
3. Mint leaves
4. Ginger (optional for those looking for less flavor and more benefit)
5. Water
How to make it (family size pitcher):
1. Fill the pitcher with water then transfer it to a pot and put it on low heat.
2. Add mint leaves (and ginger if you are using it).
3. Allow for the mint and optional ginger to simmer for several minutes, then turn off the heat and let them steep while it cools off.
4. Once the mint/ginger water has cooled under 115 degrees FH but is still warm (should take several minutes), strain out the mint leaves and ginger while transferring the liquid back into the pitcher.
5. Squeeze 2 lemons into the mint water, and add a few tablespoons of Manuka honey (up to your liking), then stir until completely blended.
6. Place in fridge until the lemonade is cold, then serve and enjoy!
You can also optionally add a serving of Black Seed Oil in your glass. This however adds a strong bitter flavor.
